RAPID CITY (AP) - Construction has begun on a medical and dental care clinic that is expected to provide affordable services in western South Dakota.
The Rapid City Journal reports that the long-planned 28,000-square-foot facility will consolidate the services of the Community Health Center, the Pediatric Center and Oral Health Center, which are currently scattered around the city. Those facilities provide care to 14,000 residents.
Tim Trithart with Community Health Center of the Black Hills says the new facility will make it easier for patients to coordinate all of their health care needs and enable the center to take on more patients.
Trithart adds that the existing facilities welcome anyone, but they aim to provide affordable services for uninsured or underinsured people.
The project is expected to be finished in October.
