A Colton man pleaded guilty Tuesday to child abuse.
Christopher Dreyer, 21, entered his plea during court at the Davison County Public Safety Center in Mitchell.
He said he hit his girlfriend’s child in August with a plastic coat hanger on the back and buttocks. His plea amounts to a conviction of abuse or cruelty to a minor that doesn’t constitute aggravated assault. The maximum penalty is 10 years in prison, a $20,000 fine or both.
Judge Tim Bjorkman scheduled sentencing for December.
