Area closings for the Christmas holiday include:
• Mitchell Technical Institute will be closed Thursday and Friday, Dec. 24-25, in observance of the Christmas holiday. Offices will be open Dec. 21-23 and Dec. 28-31. Offices will be closed Friday, Jan. 1, in observance of the New Year's holiday. Regular office hours resume Monday, Jan. 4. Classes begin Wednesday, Jan. 6.
• Due to the observance of the Christmas Day holiday on Friday, the garbage collection schedule will be changed. Thursday and Friday's garbage will be collected on Thursday, Dec. 24. The city of Mitchell Regional Landfill will close at noon on Dec. 24 and will reopen at 7:30 a.m. on Monday. Dependable Sanitation will follow the city schedule. The schedule may change due to inclement weather.
Dakota Wesleyan University offices will be closed Thursday, Dec. 24, through Friday, Jan. 1, for Christmas break. Offices will reopen at 8 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 4. The McGovern Library will be closed Thursday, Dec. 24, through Sunday, Jan. 3. Dakota Discovery Museum on DWU’s campus will be closed through Sunday, Jan. 3.
• Mitchell Public Library will close at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 24, and remain closed through Saturday, Dec. 26. The library will reopen from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 27.
