Clem Bourquin, 98, Rapid City, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at a Rapid City nursing home.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Rapid City, with the Rev. Wilbur Holz officiating. Burial will be in Pine Lawn Memorial Park, Rapid City. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Osheim and Schmidt Funeral Home, Rapid City.
He was born on March 6, 1910, near Rapid City, to John and Anna Bourquin.
He spent his formative years on the Quinn Table in the Badlands where he helped his father farm, raise cattle and break wild horses.
He worked for his uncle for several years in Rapid Valley.

In the late 1920s he went to Philadelphia to apprentice with an uncle as a watchmaker and watch repairman. He spent some time in Philadelphia before returning to South Dakota where he worked as a watchmaker.
He worked at Landstom's in Rapid City.
In 1940 he married Irene Neugebauer.
They purchased Schmidt's Jewelry in 1957 and owned and operated it until 1961 when it was destroyed in a fire. They then purchased Clem's Jewelry which they operated until retiring in 1976.
He was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
His wife died in 1987.
He is survived by a son, Ron, Hot Springs; two daughters: Mary Nelson and husband Tom, Vermillion; and Diane Odegaard and husband Butch, Mitchell; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a grandson; a brother, George; and a sister, Alice.
