Matthew Christiansen will return to the Mitchell Board of Education for another term after he filed the only nominating petition for his seat by the March 31 deadline.

The lone filing means there will be no need for a school election in 2020, as Christiansen will be sworn in at the annual meeting of the board, currently scheduled for July 13. The election was scheduled to be held June 2.

The seat is a three-year term and was the only position on the board coming up for re-election this year.

The next meeting of the board of education is scheduled for 5 p.m. on April 13 at the Mitchell Career and Technical Education Academy.
