The Corn Palace Festival Board voted for the second time Monday morning at City Hall to move its annual carnival farther north up Main Street.
The 7-3 vote, taken by secret ballot, confirmed the board's earlier decision to move the carnival from its traditional location between First and Fifth avenues to a new location between Fifth and Ninth avenues.
The vote was taken at the behest of the City Council, which ordered the board to reconsider the move after the council heard from business owners who opposed it.
Whether or not the Festival Board's decision will be final is up to the City Council, which may overrule the move, support it or do nothing. The council's next meeting will be Monday evening at City Hall.
