PIERRE (AP) -- A South Dakota woman who admitted killing her husband has been sentenced to 35 years in prison.

Forty-nine-year-old Connie Hirsch of Blunt pleaded guilty in March to first-degree manslaughter in the May 2010 shooting death of her 65-year-old husband, Jerold Hirsch. In exchange for her plea, prosecutors dropped a murder charge.

According to media reports, Judge Mark Barnett on Thursday gave Hirsch credit for time served, essentially reducing her sentence to 33 years. She will be eligible for parole after serving half the sentence.

Thursday's hearing in Pierre lasted more than an hour.
