AVON -- An Avon man was recently charged with choking a woman.

Michael Cline, 33, faces one count of aggravated assault, a Class 3 felony.

According to court documents, the Bon Homme County Sheriff's Office was alerted on June 29 that a woman was seen getting out of a vehicle crying.

The vehicle, driven by Cline, was stopped, and Cline reportedly told law enforcement the woman had jumped out and in front of another vehicle, then had begun walking toward Springfield on 407th Avenue.

Officers with the Springfield Police Department found the woman, who reportedly said Cline had choked her. Cline allegedly denied this, but was arrested and taken into custody on warrants.

The woman, who reportedly had red marks around her neck and bruises on her arms, was taken to a hospital, where a doctor told law enforcement there were signs she had been choked.
