FEDORA - Multiple agencies are investigating the recent death of more than 40 cattle on a Fedora farm.

According to the Miner County Sheriff's Office, 42 heifers and 1 bull died between Nov. 1 and Nov. 7 on a farm south of Fedora. It is unclear what caused their death, but authorities said the deaths are "definitely suspicious. Water samples from the farm were sent to North Dakota for testing, and tissue samples from dead cows were sent to Iowa.

It is unclear when results from those tests will return. The South Dakota Department of Criminal Investigation and Sanborn County Sheriff's Office are assisting with the investigation.
