Arla Jane Neeman, 75, Oacoma, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009, at Sanford Mid Dakota Medical Center, Chamberlain.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at United Church of Christ, Chamberlain. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Oacoma. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hickey-Wevik Funeral Chapel, Chamberlain, with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m.
She was born on Sept. 25, 1933, in their farm home in Harlan County, Neb., to Arthur E. and Sara I. (Gibson) Reynolds.
She attended grade school at Springbrook, District 26 in Harlan County and graduated from Long Island (Kan.) High School in 1951.
She attended college at Kearney State Teachers College, Kearney, Neb., and began teaching school at age 17.

She received her bachelor's degree from Dakota Wesleyan University, Mitchell, 25 years later.
On Dec. 22, 1952, she married Boyd Neeman at Phillipsburg, Kan.
They lived throughout Nebraska.
In 1962 they moved to Oacoma, and she taught school there.
She taught six years in rural schools in Nebraska, eight years in Oacoma and 26 years in Chamberlain before retiring in 1995.
She was inducted into the Chamberlain School District Hall of Fame in 1996.
She was the finance officer for Oacoma for 31 years before retiring in 1999.
She was a member of United Church of Christ, where she was a deaconess, chairman, vice chairman and secretary of the Ladies Fellowship. She also served on the hospital board and various other boards.

She is survived by her son, Robert, Gillette, Wyo.; a grandson, several stepgrandchildren, one stepson, Lonnie Neeman and wife Donna, Oacoma; stepdaughters: Connie Pickner, Chamberlain; Shirley Wissler, Peru, Neb.; and Trudy Hofmann and husband George, Lincoln, Neb.; five sisters: Frona Lorimer, Ellsworth, Kan.; Ruby Hardin and husband Dee, Alma, Neb.; Norene Pepper and husband Joe, Mount Pleasant, Mich.; June Lawrence and husband Ed, Wagoner, Okla.; and Lois Haug and husband Terry, Smith Center, Kan.; a brother, David Reynolds, Orleans, Kan.; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 26, 1991; a daughter, Sara; her parents, a brother, Gayle; and a sister, Lorene.
