Alvina Ruth Wynia, 79, Tyndall, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009, at Avera St. Michael's Hospital, Tyndall.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Emmanuel Reformed Church, Springfield, with the Rev. Dave Reck officiating and John McNeill assisting. Burial will be in Emanuel Cemetery, rural Springfield. Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. today at Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home, Springfield. There will be a 7 p.m. prayer service today at the church.
She was born on Dec. 14, 1929, on a farm near Avon to Arthur and Winnie (Rienstra) Palsma.
She grew up in rural Avon and attended Perkins Country School through the eighth grade.
On June 7, 1950, she married Donald D. Wynia in Springfield.

She worked as a clerk at Nick DeJong Grocery Store in Perkins and then at Kibble's Store, Springfield. She also taught music at Albion Country School and gave piano lessons.
She was a lifetime member of Emmanuel Reformed Church, where she played piano and organ for more than 60 years and also entertained at nursing homes and participated in Easter cantatas.
She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary, God's Garden Circle, ,Reformed Church Guild and was active in Rural Electric Community.
She is survived by her husband, her children: Juanita Jacobsen and husband Jerry, Mabel, Minn.; Donna Smith and husband Hal, Patterson, Ga.; and Michael and wife Mitzi, Turton; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, her sister, Hilda Los, Delevan, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers: Andrew, David, John, Bert and Allen Palsma.
