The woman who stole a puppy from Ed's Pet World in Mitchell last Saturday is charged with petty theft.
Shannon Rene Garcia, 23, of Chamberlain, turned herself in Tuesday to Mitchell police, said Detective Lt. Don Everson.
"It's a Class 2 misdemeanor, so it's not a jailable offense," Everson said.
The investigation is ongoing, and Everson said there could be charges in the future against others involved in the theft.
