SPEARFISH (AP) - A year after police found 36 dogs and six cats in the back of an SUV in Spearfish, all but one animal has been adopted.
The Black Hills Pioneer reports that just one cat awaits adoption at the Western Hills Humane Society.

In addition to the necessary vaccines and medical care, Rankin said the veterinarian costs for the rescues were more than $12,000.
The last puppy was adopted was on March 4.
The majority of dogs were Chihuahuas, with a couple of Pomeranians, and one Yorkshire terrier. Of all of the animals rescued in April of 2015.
