PLANKINTON — One person was injured in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday morning near Plankinton.

According to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, a 2017 Freightliner Semi was eastbound at 5:10 a.m. on Interstate 90 near mile marker 310 when the driver lost control of the vehicle due to icy road conditions. Eastbound traffic on Interstate 90 was closed and traffic was being re-rerouted off the U.S. Highway 281 exit due to the crash.

The driver of the vehicle, a 43-year-old male, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell. He was wearing a seat belt.

No charges are pending in the crash. The South Dakota Highway Patrol investigated the crash.
