SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — A 15-year-old boy killed in a crash Tuesday night, Nov. 5, has been identified as Barry Grieve of Sioux Falls.
His 16-year-old male passenger, Mhiretab Tsegaye, also of Sioux Falls, was seriously injured.
Their vehicle, a 1997 Jeep Cherokee, was northbound on Interstate 229 when the Grieve lost control of the vehicle while traveling across the Big Sioux River bridge, the South Dakota Highway Patrol report said. The Jeep rolled down a ditch and struck a tree.
Grieve, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene. Tsegaye's seat belt use remains under investigation, the Highway Patrol said.
