HOWARD, S.D. — A 35-year-old Valley Springs man was identified as the truck driver killed in a two-truck crash Oct. 31 on state Highway 34 about seven miles west of Howard in eastern South Dakota.

Roman Flora was driving a 2016 Freightliner Sprinter 3500 that collided with an eastbound 2019 Kenworth W900 near the intersection of Highway 25. The South Dakota Highway Patrol said Flora failed to obey a stop sign at the intersection.

Flora died at the scene. The other driver, 51-year-old Herman Wipf of Brandon, was not injured. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

Howard is about 45 miles northeast of Mitchell.
