FORESTBURG - A Huron man was injured late Thursday in a single-vehicle rollover in Sanborn County, resulting in him being airlifted to Sioux Falls.

According to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, the crash took place at 10:25 p.m. Thursday on State Highway 34, 1 mile east of Forestburg. It involved a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze, which was driven by 28-year-old Sevlen Standefer.

The vehicle was traveling westbound along the divided section of Highway 34 when Standefer failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle entered the median, rolled and came to rest in the eastbound lanes of traffic. Standefer was first taken to Huron Regional Medical Center, and eventually airlifted to Sioux Falls. He is deemed to have serious, non-life threatening injuries.

Standefer was wearing a seat belt. Charges are pending in the incident. The South Dakota Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
