Driver sustains serious injuries following one-vehicle rollover
MURDO—A 61-year-old man sustained serious, non-life threatening injuries Thursday morning following a one-vehicle rollover 10 miles east of Murdo.
According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, at 7:12 a.m., Francis Gawronski, of Jackson, Wyoming, was driving a 2017 Ford U-Haul truck westbound on Interstate 90 when he lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle then struck the guard rail, causing it to roll over onto its side.
The vehicle came to a rest and landed in the median between east and west bound bridges on 279th Ave.
According to the S.D. Highway Patrol, the rollover crash bent the guardrail into the westbound lane of I-90, blocking traffic for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
The driver was reportedly wearing a seatbelt and was transported by ambulance to the Pierre hospital. Charges are pending.
