A Huron man was identified this weekend as the person killed in a recent one-vehicle crash that ended in the James River.

The body of Abraham Ramos-Ramirez, 22, was found Wednesday morning along the river's west shore two miles east of Mitchell, according to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety. A 2008 Chrysler Town and Country van was found in the river shortly before.

While the exact date and time of the crash are still under investigation by the South Dakota Highway Patrol, authorities reported that the van had been eastbound on 250th Street and went into the south ditch, through a barbed wire fence and into the river near the street's intersection with 411th Avenue.

Ramos-Ramirez had been reported missing to the Huron Police Department on March 30. He was the only person in the van when the crash occurred.
