BRANDON—One man died Friday afternoon in a one-vehicle crash four miles east of Brandon.

The 18-year-old man, whose name has not been released pending notification of family, was driving a 2000 Subaru Impreza WRX eastbound on Interstate 90 at about 4:14 p.m., according to a press release from the Department of Public Safety.

The vehicle went into the median to pass two eastbound vehicles traveling next to each other. As the driver re-entered the passing lane, he lost control of the vehicle, then went into the south ditch and came to rest in a field.

The driver was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was involved in the crash, and Highway Patrol is investigating.
