Two men die when two pickups collide head-on near Sioux Falls
RENNER, S.D. – Two people died Thursday night, Nov. 1, in a fiery two-vehicle crash north of Sioux Falls near the town of Renner.
Names of the two drivers are not being released pending notification of family members. They were the only two people involved.
According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup was southbound on South Dakota Highway 115 while a 2002 Chevy Silverado pickup was northbound on the same highway. The Dodge vehicle crossed the center line and collided head on with the other pickup. Both vehicles started on fire.
The 34-year-old man driving the Silverado died in the fire. Witnesses were able to rescue the 18-year-old driver of the Dodge vehicle. He was taken to a Sioux Falls hospital with life-threatening injuries and died Friday morning.
The Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
