Rollover injures two, closes portion of I-90 near Presho
PRESHO -- An Illinois man suffered life-threatening injuries Saturday in a serious one-vehicle crash in Lyman County that closed part of Interstate 90 for an hour.
The South Dakota Department of Public Safety reports that a vehicle rolled over at 12:01 p.m. Saturday at mile marker 219, located 4 miles east of Presho.
The vehicle was traveling west when it went into the median and rolled several times before coming to rest in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 90. The 19-year-old driver suffered life-threatening injuries and had to be extricated before being transported to the Chamberlain hospital by ambulance. He was later airlifted to Sioux Falls.
An 18-year old passenger suffered minor injuries, as well. The crash resulted in the eastbound lanes of the interstate to be closed for about an hour.
Both occupants were wearing seat belts. An investigation into the crash is ongoing and possible charges are pending. The occupants of the vehicle weren’t identified further Saturday.
