SIOUX FALLS -- A 25-year-old man has died of injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash that occurred on July 18.
Keegan Werkmeister, of Canova, died on Friday in the Sioux Falls hospital where he was airlifted after the crash.
At 5:58 p.m. on July 18, Werkmeister, riding a 1999 Kawasaki Vulcan without a helmet, was westbound on S.D. Highway 34 near its intersection with S.D. Highway 25, 1 mile west of Howard, according to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety
Werkmeister's motorcycle was struck by a 2007 Toyota Camry, driven by 16-year-old Joy McBride, of Issaquah, Wisconsin, that had turned left onto Highway 34.
McBride and her 52-year-old female passenger were both wearing seat belts at the time of the crash and were not injured.
Charges are pending against McBride, and Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
