WINNER -- A 17-year-old male suffered life-threatening injuries following a rollover in Tripp County on Wednesday.

According to the South Dakota Department of Transporation, the crash occurred at 7:10 a.m. Wednesday at the corner of 272nd Street and 319th Avenue, located 5 1/2 miles north and 3 miles east of Winner.

The driver, Colby Kaiser, of Winner, was traveling east in a 2002 Honda Civic on 272nd Street when the vehicle went over a hill crest and lost control. The vehicle left the roadway to the south and rolled several times, and Kaiser was thrown from the vehicle.

Kaiser was transported to Winner and later flown to a Sioux Falls hospital. Kaiser was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, and charges are pending. The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
