Two people were injured when a motorcycle blew its back tire Saturday on Interstate 90 in McCook County.

A 46-year-old man sustained life-threatening injuries when the 2016 Honda Goodwing motorcycle he was driving blew its back tire. The driver, whose name is not being released, was wearing a helmet. He was transported to Sanford hospital in Sioux Falls.

The 12-year-old passenger sustained serious non-life threatening injuries and was also wearing a helmet.

Both people involved are from out of state.

The crash occurred at 10:37 a.m., about one mile west of the Spencer exit.

South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating.
