No one was injured in a house fire on Sunday night in downtown Mitchell.
At approximately 6:30 p.m., the Mitchell Fire Division responded to a house fire at 614 N. Rowley St. in Mitchell.
The occupant of the house escaped unharmed from the fire but the house is a total loss, according to the Mitchell Chief of Fire & EMS Marius Laursen.
With personnel responding to a call in Alexandria, along with the extreme heat on Sunday and the size of the house, the Mitchell Fire Department called the Mount Vernon Fire Department and Ethan Fire Department for assistance.
It took roughly 90 minutes for the fire to be put mostly put out, while firefighters continued to deal with an occasional hotspot.
The Mitchell Police Division and the Davison County Sheriff's Office also assisted at the scene.
The Salvation Army was on hand providing support for the occupant of the house and emergency personnel.
Cause of the fire is still under investigation according to Laursen
