LOWER BRULE - A Lower Brule man pleaded guilty recently to federal charges of sexual abuse, strangulation and domestic assault by a habitual offender.

Cody Crazy Bull, 27, was indicted on Feb. 14 and pleaded not guilty last week to the charges that stem from an October 2017 incident in which Crazy Bull allegedly forced his partner to engage in a sexual act by using force, according to the United States Attorney's Office. On the same day, Crazy Bull is accused of strangling and suffocating her.

A jury trial is scheduled for May, and if convicted, Crazy Bull could face up to life in prison and a $75,000 fine.
