Who let the cow out?
A cow wandering around Thursday night in Mitchell city limits was finally lured home with a bucket of corn.
The Mitchell Police Division responded to southeastern Mitchell, near Hitchcock Park, to multiple reports of a cow on the loose. The initial caller said the cow was walking into a garage on the 900 block of East Birch Avenue.
The cow walked around Hitchcock Park and through residential areas. After officials spent nearly two hours of trying to determine whose cow it was, the owner finally arrived to lure the animal home.
There was no damage, and the Davison County Sheriff's Office assisted. No one, including the cow, was injured.
It was a minor conundrum in comparison to an October 2014 incident, when about 70 head of cattle were eventually steered to safety after they were hoofing around town inside Mitchell city limits and the nearby area.
