A downed tree caused more than 1,300 Northwestern Energy customers in Mitchell to lose power Sunday.

According to Tom Glanzer, company spokesperson for Northwestern Energy, a tree on the 500 block of South Ohlman Street caused 1,320 customers to be without power from 12:05 p.m. to 1:15 p.m.

The tree likely fell because of high winds and stormy morning weather. According to the National Weather Service, Mitchell received six-hundredths of an inch of rain Sunday morning. Shortly following the morning thunderstorm, Mitchell had 30 mph sustained winds and gusts up to 40 mph.
