No power in Mitchell Monday morning? Blame the birds.
A total of 1,230 Northwestern Energy customers in Mitchell were without electricity Monday morning. Northwestern Energy is dealing with a substation problem, caused by some birds that managed to get in the way of the power, according to company spokesman Tom Glanzer.
The power has been out since shortly after 9:30 a.m., and residents affected by the outage are on the east side of the city.
Glanzer said crews are working on the problem. He estimated the repairs would take about 90 minutes, to get the area cleaned out and working properly once again. Power should be running again before noon, Glanzer estimated.
Mitchell is expecting another warm day, with a high of 93 degrees projected this afternoon.
