A squirrel is responsible for a power outage Saturday morning that affected areas of southern Mitchell.
According to Tom Glanzer, a spokesman for Northwestern Energy, the outage began shortly before 8 a.m., when a squirrel apparently got into a junction box in the southern part of the city. Approximately 945 Northwestern Energy customers were affected by the power outage, Glanzer said.
Power was rerouted and electricity was returned to all customers shortly after 10 a.m., Glanzer said.
Several traffic lights were affected by the power outage but the Mitchell Police Division reported no incidents related to the power outage.
