SIOUX FALLS (AP) -- Sioux Falls police have two homeless men in custody in the beating death of another man.
Authorities say a 52-year-old man was arrested on a simple assault charge and a 43-year-old man was arrested for murder. Police say both are transients, and registered sex offenders. They were due in court on Friday afternoon to be formally charged.
The body was discovered Thursday night in a wooded area in the northeast part of the city. Neighbors tell the media that the area is popular among homeless people. Police identified the victim as 45-year-old Robert Thunderhawk, a known transient.
Chuck Kopecky lives in the neighborhood. He tells the media that the homeless people don't bother anyone, but now he's shy about letting children use the biking and hiking trail in the area.
