The Mitchell Police Division arrested a Sioux Falls man Dec. 30 for possession with intent to distribute.
Travis James Ranek, 32, turned the wrong way on Fourth Street, which is a one-way, and Officer Terrance Reyelts attempted to stop him.
Ranek accelerated while driving west. He eventually stopped two blocks later, where Reyelts arrested him.
Ranek smelled of alcohol and his vehicle smelled of marijuana, according to Reyelts' report. He searched the vehicle and found four baggies containing marijuana and a pipe containing residue.
Possession with intent to distribute is a felony and carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison, a $10,000 fine or both.
Ranek is also charged with reckless driving, possession of drug paraphernalia, eluding law enforcement and second-offense driving under the influence, all misdemeanor charges.
