OMAHA - Friend de Coup maintained its strong start to the 2018 season.

On Saturday, the Mitchell High School show choir was named Grand Champion in the Omaha Westside Competition of Excellence. The group also won Best Band and Best Vocals.

"Westside is a very big, extremely competitive event with amazing groups from all around the region," said Jen Randall, director of Friend de Coup. "To even be in the finals with so many talented show choirs is an honor, but to win and take home captions, such as Best Vocals, makes for a very special day."

Friend de Coup will next compete on Feb. 10 at the the Troy Buchanan Show Choir Invitational in St. Louis, Missouri.
