FARGO, N.D. -- A loss could not deter Nash Hutmacher.

After suffering a shocking loss in his opening match, Hutmacher raced through eight competitors in the consolation bracket to finish third in the U.S. Marine Corps Freestyle Junior Nationals 285-pound division.

The Chamberlain senior-to-be edged Iowa’s Spencer Trenary on Tuesday to secure his third-place finish, winning with a resounding 13-4 decision to earn All-American honors.

Hutmacher was the lone wrestler from South Dakota to place in the freestyle tournament.

Hutmacher, along with Winner’s Wyatt Turnquist and Kaden Keiser are scheduled to compete in the Greco-Roman Junior Nationals, which begins today in Fargo and runs through Friday.

Hutmacher was the runner-up in last year’s Greco-Roman tournament.
