Friend De Coup earned Grand Champion and Best Solo Performances by Terrell Kirchhevel and Logan Culhane Saturday, March 13 at the Aberdeen Center Stage Show Choir Competition. This was Friend De Coup’s fourth win in a row, giving it a sweep for the 2021 in-person competition season.

Mitchell Middle School Maximum Velocity took home first place and Best Solo Performances by Henry Swenson, Brady Trefz, Broden Schulz and Everett Morrision in the middle school competition, while MMS Exclamation Choir earned 5th place.

Classic Competition, March 20

The Annual Friend De Coup Classic Competition fundraiser is Saturday, March 20. The Classic will feature 11 high school show choirs from South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska and Minnesota. Attendance will be limited to four vouchers per student per choir and will be virtually available to the public via livestream.

Show Choir Live, April 10

The third and final Show Choir Live qualifying event took place Saturday, March 13. Friend de Coup competed during Week 1 (Feb. 2) and remained in the lead for all three weeks of competition, finishing with the highest score overall in the whole competition. This has earned them the opportunity to perform again in the Championships on Saturday, April 10. The Show Choir Live Championships can be watched for free via live-stream on www.showchoirlive.com. The schedule is tentative.

The Championships will consist of the top four large-mixed show choirs, the top four small-mixed show choirs, the top three single-gender show choirs, and the top middle school show choir from all three weeks of the tournament. In the large-mixed division, FDC will be competing against “The South High Street Singers” from Fort Atkinson High School in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, “ENCORE!” from Tantasqua Regional High School in Fiskdale, Massachusetts, and “By Request” from Loveland High School in Loveland, Ohio.

Mark your calendars for Friend De Coup’s “Welcome to the Night!” - The 2021 FDC Dinner Theatre/non-dinner/fundraiser. A three-night event, experience the talents of the award-winning high school and guest appearances by the Mitchell Middle School Show Choirs and John Paul II show choirs.
