ORANGE CITY, IOWA — The Mitchell High School marching band closed out its competitive season on a high note when it took second place in the largest class at the Dutchmen Field Championships in Orange City, Iowa last weekend.
The band competed with seven other bands in the 4A class but took home the second overall highest score among 25 bands in four different classes. It is the best score the band has received at the large, prestigious marching festival.
The band also received the Triple S Award, which recognizes themes of spirit, support and sportsman.
“This was a historic season for our band and I couldn’t be more proud of our students and staff. Everywhere we went this year we received compliments about our show and it was so fun to see the joy on these kids’ faces performing this entertaining show,” said Ryan Stahle, director for the band, in a press release.
The band will next host its annual Indoor Marching Show Thursday, Nov. 4, at the Mitchell High School Performing Arts Center.
