SIOUX CENTER, IOWA -- The Dakota Wesleyan University cross country team represented the school’s first athletic event of the year. The women’s team placed sixth out of nine teams at the Sunflower Open and the men finished in ninth place.
Tessa Kilber paced the women with a 44th-place finish, as she finished in 20 minutes, 40.68 seconds. Morgan Oedekoven (21:30.09) took 64th and Mitchell native Annika Vermeulen placed 73rd in 21:47.19.
For the men, Plankinton native Devin Rihanek took 67th with a time of 29:00.63. Teammate Wyatt Baldauf earned 69th place in 29:14.68 and Justin Sorensen took 72nd in 29:20.25.
DWU competes in the Morningside Invite on Sept. 19 in Sioux City Iowa.
