FREMONT, Neb. -- Collin Kramer’s and-one layup with seven seconds left in overtime proved to be the difference on Saturday as Midland University’s Tyler Craven missed a 3-pointer as time expired.

As a result, No. 17 Dakota Wesleyan University men’s basketball stayed perfect on the season, defeating Great Plains Athletic Conference foe Midland University 95-92 in overtime.

Kramer’s three-point play at the end gave him 12 points in the game, though Nick Harden (24), Aaron Ahmadu (23) and Ty Hoglund (20) all scored at least 20 points, while Ahmadu also grabbed five rebounds and Hoglund dished out a team-best four assists.

Both teams shot well as the Tigers connected on 50 percent of their shots, despite shooting 27.3 percent on 33 3-point attempts, and Midland (2-3, 0-2 GPAC) shot 49.3 percent.

That said, DWU made seven more free throws and won the rebounding battle 36-32.

The Tigers still needed to mount a second-half comeback, as they trailed 41-36 at the half and by eight a couple of minutes into the second half. A Harden 3-pointer tied things at 51-51 with 15:22 to play, which led to a back-and-forth contest the rest of the way.

Although, Midland was able to pull ahead 80-75 with 1:12 to play. Ahmadu and Hoglund both made a pair of free throws, followed by Samuel McCloud sinking a 3-pointer with 15 seconds left, giving the Tigers an 82-80 lead. However, Midland’s Isaiah Workman made a layup with four seconds left to tie the game and force overtime.

Kramer and Ahmadu combined for DWU’s 13 overtime points, with Kramer scoring eight in the extra five minutes.

The Tigers (5-0, 2-0) host Sisseton Wahpeton College at 7 p.m. today at the Corn Palace.
