SIOUX CITY, Iowa -- The Dakota Wesleyan University men’s and women’s cross country teams posted top-10 finishes at the Briar Cliff Invitational on Saturday.
The Tiger women were ninth out of 13 teams with 232 points, 12 behind Iowa Western Community College’s 220. Dordt captured the team championship with 35 points, 28 fewer than Concordia (Neb.). Meanwhile, the DWU men were 10th out of 14 teams with 293 points, two behind Bellevue University. Iowa Central Community College won with 24 points.
Freshman Tessa Kilber paced the DWU women, running the 5K course in 19 minutes, 21.56 seconds to finish 40th. Mitchell native Annika Vermeulen was 67th in 20:25.11 and Morgan Oedekoven was 77th in 20:34.99.
Wyatt Baldauf led DWU in the 8K men’s race in 27:19.13 to finish 76th, while Justin Sorensen was 83rd in 27:30.80 and Plankinton native Devin Rihanek was 97th in 28:04.00.
DWU competes in the Seminole Valley Stampede on Saturday in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
