US Supreme Court says SD can charge online sales tax

Mary Anne Wiersma, 81, Mitchell, died Friday, April 4, 2014 at Avera Bormann Manor in Parkston. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Tuesday, April 8 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mitchell. Burial will be in Servicemens Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 pm Monday with a scripture service at 7:00 pm at the Bittner Funeral Chapel.

She was born October 18, 1932 at Chamberlain, SD to Adolf and Anastasia (McCullough) Petrik. She graduated from Cathedral High School in Rapid City in 1951 and Spearfish Normal School in 1952. She taught in the Lone Tree School District. On February 6, 1954 she married Jerome Wiersma. In August 1968 they moved to Mitchell, where she was employed by Kings Food Host and Geyermans for numerous years. She was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Altar Society. Mary Anne was an avid volunteer and enjoyed being involved in various organizations in the Mitchell Community.

She is survived by her eight children: Vonnie (Darby) Bordewyk of Pierre; Vicki Wiersma of Rapid City; Steve (Sandy) Wiersma of Arvada, CO; Tom (Nancy) Wiersma of Colorado Springs, CO; John (Beth) Wiersma of Kearney, NE; Karen (Jim) Garry of Granger, IN; Mike (Darcy) Wiersma of Fargo, ND and Mary (Kevin) Kummer of Parkston, SD; 3 sisters-in-law: Janie Petrik of Rapid City, SD; Ann Wiersma and Hanna Wiersma of Sibley, IA; 21 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry in July 2001 and brothers, James, Thomas, and Stanley Petrik.
