US Supreme Court says SD can charge online sales tax

Harold Huber, 90, died Monday, March 24 at Avera Bormann Manor in Parkston. Funeral service will be Monday, March 31 at 10:30 am at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Clayton. Visitation will be Sunday, March 30 from 5 to 7 pm with a 7:00 pm prayer service at St. Peters Lutheran Church at Clayton. Arrangements by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Parkston.

Well would you know the old cowboy and his sidekick, Guardian Angel "Joe", saddled up and took a ride to heaven. After a busy job of taking care of Harold, Joe decided it was time to retire.

Harold Huber was born November 14, 1923 to Reinhold and Josephine (Langley) Huber on the family farm near Clayton, SD. He was baptized in January, 1924, by Pastor Henry Luebke and attended Clayton District 65 school. He graduated and was confirmed in 1937. He was drafted into the army in 1945. He was united in marriage to Elma Marie Werning on November 10, 1946 at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Clayton by Pastor Henry Luebke. They lived on their farm one mile west of Clayton and were blessed with a daughter and 6 sons. Elma died in 1978. Harold married Sylvia Daly on January 4, 1980 at St. Mary Episcopal Church in Mitchell, SD by Pastor Gordon Plowe. In 1981, Sylvia's two grandchildren, Christeen (9) and Harold (12) Urban lived with Harold and Sylvia and became part of the Huber Family.

Harold held various offices in the church, was on the Clayton District 65 school board until it closed and was the Clayton township clerk for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 18, Commanders Club of DAV, NRA, and founded and was the leader of the Clayton 4-H club. Harold loved baseball and was catcher for the local baseball and softball teams. While rodeo and baseball were his favorite sports, he also loved to hunt and fish. He hunted in South Dakota, Nebraska and Wyoming and fished in many places including the Gulf of Mexico, Alaska, the Pacific Ocean off San Diego, and many lakes and rivers in Ontario and Manitoba. Harold and Sylvia spent many winters in Arizona with his daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Steve Hurd. In November of 2010, they decided to leave the ranch and moved to assisted living in Parkston, SD and in February of 2012, they moved to Bormann Manor. Harold went to his heavenly home on Monday, March 24, 2014 at Avera Bormann Manor in Parkston at the age of 90.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia of Parkston; 6 children: James (Mary) Huber of Vernal, Utah and their children, Troy and Jeremy; Royce (Lana) Huber of Custer, SD and their children, Laura and Justin; Diane (Steve) Hurd of Glendale, Arizona and their children, Chris, Collin and Brent; Galynn (Monica) Huber of Brandon, SD and their children, Christina and Ashley; Todd (Lisa) Huber of Yankton, SD and their children, Jerrica, Matthew and Spencer; and Grant Huber of Clayton; a step son, Bob (Eileen) Urban of Missouri; a step-granddaughter, Christeen (Todd) Scheurenbrand of Mitchell and their children, Meghan and Anna; a step-grandson, Harold Urban of Sioux Falls, SD; a brother, Orville (Dorothy) Huber of Emery, SD; and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Elma; a son, Curtis Huber; a great-grandson, Isaak Scheurenbrand; and 2 sisters: Leona Dannenbring and Matilda Tornow.
