Big J’s wings were the best.

That’s according to the judges during Saturday’s annual Wingapalooza held at the Corn Palace in Mitchell.

Big’s J’s Roadhouse, a bar and restaurant in Humboldt, took first place for best overall wings. County Fair was second place in the overall category and the Depot was third.

Overtime Steakhouse and Sports Bar, of Mitchell, won the people’s choice award, while Big J’s took runner-up and Moose Lodge was third.

Hundreds of people filled the Corn Palace, where green beer was served and wings were the main event. The event, which is the main fundraiser for Mitchell Main Street & Beyond, had 10 businesses compete for best wings.

Mitchell Technical Institute took first for hottest wings, with Moose Lodge taking second and Coborn’s third. The Back 40 won the best-decorated booth contest.
