The 71st annual Czech Days have been scheduled for Thursday, Friday and Saturday, June 13, 14 and 15, in Tabor.
Kickoff events on Thursday, June 13, include Merriam's Midway Shows carnival, the Craft Fair and Quilt Show in the school gym, and the Tabor Bluebirds baseball game at 7:30 p.m. The day winds up with a fireworks display.
Information center will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday and kolace and roll baking demonstrations will also be held at the information center.
Workshops, chainsaw carvings, the pioneer village and museum and Blachnik Museum are all available to the public both Friday and Saturday.
Friday events include a Bohemian tractor pull at 3:30 p.m., free concerts on Sokol Stage beginning at 4 p.m., a Polka Dance-Off contest and the 2018 Czech Days Queen Costume judging and public interview at 7 p.m. Tabor Beseda Dancers will perform at 8:45 p.m. Stage entertainment at Sokol Park will feature the Kaul Boys.
The Kolache Krawl fun run/walk begins the day on Saturday, with registration from 7 to 8 a.m. The Kiddie Parade begins at 10:30 a.m. The Czech Heritage Preservation Society Heritage Re-enactment presentation will be at 12:30 p.m.
A sanctioned pedal tractor pull competition will be held at 1:30 p.m. south of Sokol Park. Registration is at 1 p.m.
The Czech Polka mass will be held at 4 p.m. in St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. A free concert by the Nebraska Area Jazz Ensemble will be held at 5 p.m. in Sokol Park and at 6 p.m. the Tabor 1890 Bank will take the stage. The Beseda Dancers will begin at 7:15 p.m.
Crowning for the 2019 Czech Days Queen will begin at 8 p.m. and the Coronation Ball will begin at 9 p.m. in Beseda Hall.
