Mitchell-based Vantage Point Solutions said Wednesday it is merging with a Colorado-based telecom consulting firm.

GVNW Consulting, which had more than 50 employees on its own, will be incorporated under the Vantage Point umbrella of offerings. In a statement, Vantage Point CEO Larry Thompson said GVNW’s consulting expertise will be a key asset for the new combined company.

Overall, the business will have more than 350 staff members and seven office locations, and Mitchell will remain the overall headquarters.

GVNW was founded in 1970 in Wilsonville, Oregon, with the name formed from the names of the founders. Like Vantage Point, the business has focused much of its energy on helping small, rural independent telecom companies through various economic and regulatory environments. GVNW’s CEO Jeff Smith will be the new combined company’s vice president of regulatory affairs, while Thompson will remain CEO.

Vantage Point, which was created in 2002 and is an employee-owned company, provides full-service engineering and consulting services to rural broadband providers and has more than 300 employees, including 10 licensed professional engineers. In 2017, Vantage Point added a 25,000-square-foot addition to the company’s headquarters, bringing the overall headquarters to 55,000 square feet.
