The Mitchell Christian cross country team hosted its home meet on Saturday on Firesteel Trail near Lake Mitchell, and the home-course advantage paid off.
The Golden Eagles had the top-two finishers on the boys side. Max Reynen finished in 20 minutes, 30 seconds to win the race by 38 seconds over teammate Nathanael Anderberg (21:08).
Menno’s Julius Carr finished in third in 21:49, while Andes Central/Dakota Christian’s Peter Backes (21:53) finished in fourth. Corbin Fuoss, of Tripp-Delmont/Armour, rounded out the top-five racers with a time of 22:16.
Menno’s Isaac Fergen (22:21) and ACDC’s Tony Hansum (22:49) placed sixth and seventh, respectively. In ninth place, Micah Leonard, of TDA, crossed the finish line in 22:58.
Mitchell Christian had six total racers on the boys side. Nahum Anderberg (22:50) took eighth place. Its final three runners finished together, as Reegan Nydam (23:41) led the trio in 10th, followed by Micah Frey (23:46) and Liam Pospisil (23:56).

On the girls side, ACDC’s Isabella Brouwer paced the four-runner race. She finished in 22:19 to take first place by over a minute.
Menno duo Morgan Edelman (23:45) and Ashton Massey (23:48) finished side-by-side in second and third, respectively. ACDC’s Sonya Hansum (27:23) took fourth.
