The group is part of The Embroiderers’ Guild of America and meets at Countryside at 1:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month.

The living space will also include a pub across the hallway and home theater. They are the last projects to be completed on the 17,000-square-foot addition to the nursing home and assisted-living facility, according to Avera Brady Administrator and CEO of Long-term Care Veronnica Smith.

Chad Youngbluth, assistant manager of Slumberland Furniture in Mitchell, carries out a bed Thursday night as part of the Home for the Holidays program, which gives out new beds to families in need. The Mitchell Slumberland store has been donating beds for the past five years, with the help of the United Way in Mitchell, according to store owner Rich Bragg, of Huron. Bragg said the store will donate 20 beds to families — including the mattress, box spring, frame and mattress protector.
Firefighters worked to extinguish a fire at 301 E. Vermont Ave. in Salem early Tuesday morning. The home caught fire Monday afternoon and reignited Tuesday morning, according to Salem Fire Chief Bill Eichacker. No one was injured.
