Teacher Kathy Nimmer, who is blind, says she wants her students, many of whom face serious challenges of their own, to see her as proof that they can overcome those challenges. She is Indiana’s 2015 Teacher of the Year and a finalist for National Teacher of the Year. Nimmer teaches English and creative writing in West Lafayette, Ind.
