Dakota Wesleyan University has announced the hiring of Lindsay Wilber to take over as head coach of the school’s volleyball program. “We received 50 applications from throughout the region, but Lindsay’s really stood out because of her strong ties to the area and to the game of volleyball,” Hart said. “I think her transition into the program will be seamless and she will get started working with the girls right away.”

Lindsay Wilber, a Lakefield, Minn., native, most recently worked as the Sioux Falls South 17u club coach in Sioux Falls.

She also founded and directed the TIBBS Volleyball Academy in Sioux Falls from 2010-12 and worked with up to 300 volleyball players annually on skill development. Wilber also was a varsity assistant at Sioux Falls O’Gorman High School from 2002-05, and worked as the club director and a coach for the Sioux Falls South team from 2003-06.

Wilber played college volleyball at Augustana College in Sioux Falls from 1997-2000. She earned AVCA All-American First Team honors in 1999 and 2000 and second team All-American honors as a sophomore in 1998. She was All-North Central Conference and All-North Central Region selection three years in a row, and was named a Successful Farming All-American and a Lutheran Brotherhood All-American in 2000. She was part of the NCAA Division II national runner-up team in 2000, and is still second in kills, third in total attacks, fifth in digs and eighth in service aces for a career at Augustana.

“I’m thrilled to be named the next Dakota Wesleyan University head volleyball coach,” Wilber said. “I plan on getting to work right away with the athletes during the spring ball season, which will put us on the right track to be successful next fall.”

Wilber lives in Mitchell with her husband, Matt, who was hired as the head men’s basketball coach at DWU in June. They have four sons: A.J. and Ben (7), Nathan (5) and Tyson (10 months). She plans to start recruiting and working with the team immediately.
