MINNEAPOLIS — Trever DeVestern took the lone first-place finish for the Dakota Wesleyan University wrestling team at the Brute-Auggie Open hosted by Augsberg College Saturday in Minneapolis.

DeVestern won the 165-pound gold division title with a major decision over Dalton Westerlund of Upper Iowa.

The junior, who took first place at the DWU open last weekend, got to the finals with a semi-final win by pin fall over Ishmael Rempson of William Penn.

In the 197-pound gold division, DWU’s Tyler Sarringar finished fourth after having to forfeit the third-place match to Upper Iowa’s Ricky Briggs due to medical reasons.

Kyle Gerlach also placed for the Tigers, taking sixth in the 157-pound gold division.

The Tigers will be back in action in a triangular against Augustana College and Northwestern College at 5 p.m. Dec. 5 in Orange City, Iowa.
